Description

An exploration of the foundations necessary for mastery of the advanced topics of clinical practice out of the hospital. At the completion of this module, the student will understand the roles and responsibilities of a paramedic with the EMS system; apply the basic concepts of development, pathophysiology to assessment and management of emergency patients; be able to communicate effectively with patients; and understand the medical/legal and ethical issues relating to EMS practice as well as the issues impacting the well being of the paramedic. Prerequisite: Current EMT-Basic or EMT-Intermediate certification and current A.H.A.BLS Healthcare Provider certification or equivalent course completion. Corequisites: EMSP 1355, EMSP 1356, EMSP 2338, and EMSP 2361.
